The thought of avocado in smoothie always seemed abit strange to me. Avocado should be in salads, or made into guacamole, right? It wasnt until I followed the Jason Vale 28 day juice fast that I took the plunge.
Not only do avocados give a lovely creamy texture to smoothies, and can be used in place of bananas, they are full of vitamins and minerals and high in monounsaturated (“good”) fat.
I had a big ripe avocado that needed to be used today, so I came up with these two recipes. Each recipe serves 2.
1/2 large avocado
1/2 a banana
1 small apple
Juice of 1/2 a lime
1/2 a large avocado
1 Tbs cocoa powder
1 Tbs Honey
Blend together and enjoy!
The avocado makes these smoothies thick so add enough milk to get the consistency you want.
I used half of the chocolate shake to make a smoothie bowl as it was the perfect consistency. I topped it with some homemade granola and fruits. Will definitely be making this again!
